Why Prepare Plant Oils?
The purpose of preparing a Plant or Tree oils is to suspend their lovely constituents into an oily medium for topical use on skin, hair, lips, or nails for their softening, emollient qualities and medicinal effects. The oil can be applied as is as a massage oil, body oil or hair oil. When beeswax or other solid oils are added to it, it firms the oil up into a salve, compound, lip balm, hair or beard pomade. The oil can also be made into moisturizing lotions by the addition of watery based or aloe-based ingredients, for luscious face and body creams. Additionally, it is common practice all of the above, oils, salves, balms, lotions and moisturizers can have essential oils added to them (in the correct amounts) for scent enhancement to medicinal purposes.
